SHILLONG, SEPT 5: The ngos who have launched an agitation for the introduction of the Inner Line Permit (ILP)in Meghalaya have also given a call for a one-day office picketing across the state on September 7 even as its three days night road blockage has entered the second day on Thursday.
The decision was taken after the state government declared that September 7 being a Saturday will be a working day as the state government employees did not turn up for works during Monday’s 12-hour bandh called by the ngos.
“We have decided to hold a one-day statewide office picketing in the state,” KSU vice president Fredrick Kharmawphlang told this scribe over phone on Thursday. He said the decision for the office picketing was taken after the state government declared Saturday as working day to punish the employees who did not go to work during the 12 hours bandh on Monday.
The ngos have also decided that the timing of the ongoing three days night road blockade will be from 10 pm to 5 am and not from 9 pm. “The blockade will start from 10 pm to 5 am instead of 9pm,” Kharmawphlang said.
The ngos have also condemned the state police for using the EMRI 108 ambulance for their patrolling drives in and around the city during the night blockade.-By Our Reporter
