SHILLONG, AUG 31: The Shillong Press Club (SPC) drubbed the Lamlynti Boxing Club Mawlai(LBCM) by 2-I goals in a friendly match played on Saturday at JN stadium. The friendly match was played to commemorate the ten anniversary of the LBCM.
LBCM took an early lead when they scored their only goal against SPC XI in the 10th minutes putting pressure on the SPC XI. Putting its acts together SPC defender Avinash Pradhan tricked the rivals by penetrating the forward position came up with an equalizer after he took a pass from mid-fielder Banjop Mukhim.
Although the SPC had ninety percent possession of the ball, but the players failed to convert it into goal. As LBCM tried to outplay the SPC, but latter’s defense was to strong for the boxing club
The SPC sealed the win when its midfielder Rening Lyngdoh who tapped the ball to Aditya Pradhan who made not mistake of putting it into the LBCM goal post taking the score line to 2-1.
The commemoration of the ten anniversary of the LBCM also saw exchange of mementos between the two participating clubs.
Speaking on the occasion SPC president David Laitphlang lauded the effort of the boxing club in promoting the sport in the state and its endeavor to encourage youths to look at sport as future career option.
Laitphlang said, “Lamlynti Boxing Club has always been uplifting the sport for the benefit of the youth in a humble way and we have been with them ever since its inception.” Laitphlang said. He reaffirmed the media support to all sports activities for the benefit of the youth of the state.
LBCM president Larry Kharpran expressed his appreciation to the support extended by the media fraternity in the state. He said, “It is only through the media that boxing events are being highlighted to the public, and this is how the youth of the state can take advantage of the boxing club and shine.”-By Our Reporter
