SHILLONG, AUG 17: The Garo Students Union (GSU), western zone, has called for twelve hours bandh in Dandengre and some parts of South West Garo hills district on Monday. The bandh will begin from 5 am to 5 pm. The bandh will also affect the national highway 51.
The students body has been demanding the removal of Selsella BDO Dr Roy and instead recall BDO Albert G Momin who the GSU said had been removed arbitrarily. The union had been agitating for some time now to pressurize the government to give in to their demand..
GSU president western zone Rupa Marak informed that the bandh on Monday has been called to protest against the adamant attitude of the government in fulfilling their demands. He said, “From very beginning we are firm on the issue as we want Dr Roy to be removed immediately.”
The union has warned that if the government does not listen to their demand then it will be forced to intensify its demand. The union has also appealed to the people to extent their support to the proposed bandh. – By Our Reporter
