SHILLONG, JULY 15: The ANVC (B) said it is willing to bring onboard the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) commander-in-chief Sohan D Shira to mainstream as part of the “peace-pact” saying it will change the whole peace scenario in Garo hills.
“We convey our willingness to bring onboard Sohan to mainstream with the support from the society through the peaceful initiative, making them part of the peace process and the pact,” ANVC-B publicity secretary Doang D Shira said in a statement on Monday.
Shira felt this will change the whole scenario in Garo Hills.
The A’chik National Volunteer Council (ANVC), who is under a tripartite ceasefire agreement from July 2004 with the Union Home Ministry and the state government is waiting for the final settlement for peace. The ANVC(B) is also a part of that process.
He said, “We are open and ready to include Sohan in the final signing of the peace process. The situation is bound to change for better if all sections of the society come together and work out.”
“We urge all sections of the society to work for lasting peace in Garo Hills which is the urgent need of the time, and which is possible only through the united effort from all sections of the society,” the outfit statement said.- By Our Reporter
