Shillong, August 14: HB Nongseij, a first class contractor, will be the United Democratic Party (UDP) candidate from Mawthadraishan, a new constituency craved out of Nongspung, Mairang and Pariong.
This was disclosed by the UDP working president Paul Lyngdoh to reporters on Tuesday.
So far the UDP has cleared the names of Dr Jova Marak, who was earlier with the Congress, as its candidate from Rambrai-Jyrngam constituency in West Khasi Hills district.. The party has already declared 37 candidates including Marak for the next assembly elections.
The UDP has ten legislators in the present assembly and all of them, except JD Rymbai who has decided to quit politics, have been given tickets. – By Our Reporter
