SHILLONG, JUN 21: Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president and North East Congress Coordination Committee (NECCC) chairman DD Lapang informed the AICC general secretary Ambika Soni, who also incharge of Congress president’s office, that the meeting of the NECCC will be held next month to revamp and strengthen the party in the eight north eastern states.
Beside Lapang also informed that the MPCC would be sending tri-monthly reports of the party activities and programs in the state as desired by the AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi.
The tri-monthly reports will send in close coordination with the new AICC general secretary in charge of Meghalaya Luizinho Faleiro and AICC secretary Dr Vijay Laxmi Sadho.
Soni, it is learnt, was strongly supportive to Lapang’s proposal to revamp and strengthen the NECCC keeping in view the forthcoming Lok Sabha election in 2014
Lapang and Soni also discussed about the party’s prospect in Meghalaya in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Lapang was advised that the party must work hard to retain the Shillong seat and win the Tura seat. –By Our Reporter
