SHILLONG, MAY 31: Having earned a berth in the I-League, Rangdajied United Football Club is all set to sign former Mohun Bagan and ONGC coach Santosh Kashyap as the head of its technical department for the coming season.
Kashyap will be reaching Shillong on Thursday after he had a month long negotiation with the new I-League entrant Rangdajied. The Shillong based club had emerged the champion in the second division I-League and is the second team from Meghalaya after Shillong Lajong to be playing in the country’s top football league.
Kashyap earlier stint as Mohun Bagan coach ended last season after which he took charge of ONGC team. Under him the oilman gave a superb performance and finished ninth place at the end of the I-League last month
However it was known that the ONGC along with Air
India will be out of the I-League as they had failed to meet the required criteria set by Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
Before Kashyap took over the ONGC coach mantle, the team was at the bottom of the table. Kashyap, is also among the youngest blood coaches, had been very vocal in protesting against the AIFF for holding matches at the bright day light.
Rangdajied sources say that Kashyap will be signed for a year initially as the club’s technical head.- By Suraj Joshi
