SHILLONG, MAY 20: Militants shot dead five coal labourers on Monday in a Daramdura coal mine located under the Nongalbibra areas which is about fifteen kilometres away from Baghmara, the district headquarters of South Garo hills.
Police told this website that the identity of those killed is yet to be established. The labourers were working in the coalmine owned by one A Sangma.
The police, however, could not confirm to which group the militants who killed the labourers belonged. The victims are all said to be from Assam who had come to Daramdura coal mine to work for Sangma.
The bodies have been taken to the nearby hospital for post mortem.
The police are in the dark not only on the affiliation of the militants to militant groups but also on the motive of killing the four five labourers. One of the district police officers said that the police is investigating on the motive for killing the labourers as well as trying to establish to which militant groups operating in Garo hills the militants belongs.- By Our Reporter
