Shillong, August 8: The power struggle between Civil Society Women Organisation (CSWO) president Agnes Kharshiing and another faction led by Irene Hujon took an ugly turn with the former registering a fresh police case against Hujon at the Mawryngkneng police outpost today.
In the FIR filed by Kharshiing along with her general secretary Evangeline Thabah, the two have alleged that “Irene Hujon and Christabel Wanniang are posing themselves as CSWO president and general secretary respectively.” The duo said both of them are claiming to be heading the central body of CSWO at Kut on August 7.
The police complaint sought to inform the police that neither Hujon nor Wanniang are the CSWO’s members. It said that Hujon had disassociated from the organization three years ago and Wanniang was never its member.
According to the FIR, Hujon and Wanniang had even formed units in Langpih in West Khasi hills , Klew in Ri-Bhoi, Shilliang Ktieh and other villages for political reasons. Hujon had contested the 2008 election from LJP of Ram Vilas Paswan. – By Our Reporter
