SHILLONG, APR 22: Shillong Lajong FC’s 18-year-old striker Edinho Junior has been selected to represent Portugal in the U-19 international tournament to be played in Porto from April 21 to April 27.
A press release issued by Lajong said it was happy for Edinho, who scored two goals for the club on his debut I-League match against Pune FC last month after his transfer on loan from Blackburn Rovers in March. “This marked the first ever loan transfer of a player from an international club of Blackburn Rovers’ stature to an Indian club,” said the release.
Edinho is a Portuguese national of Brazilian origin who moved to Blackburn Rovers from Olhanense. The centre forward is the son of a former Brazilian international Edon do Amaral Neto. -By Our Reporter
