Women power vrs liquor

NONGPOH, APR 21: Women of Umran Dairy village in Ri Bhoi district on Saturday took out a procession to stop the people within the village and outside to sell liquor that has destroyed many families. The procession organized by the the Seng Longkmie of Umran Dairy village is also part of its effort to spread awareness among the community on the evil of drinking and drunkenness.  Concern over the culture of drinking and drunkenness, school children also took part in the procession carrying placards in their hands and shouting the slogan to stop selling liquors that has destroyed many families and also snuffed many lives.Seng Longkmie president B Mawlong told reporters that the aim of organizing such a procession is to create mass awareness among the locals on the need to eradicate selling of illegal liquor that has apparently affected many families.- By Our Reporter
