Rangdajied humbles Mumbai Tiger by solitary goal

football1BANGALORE, APR 19: Rangdajied United FC came up with brilliant performance on Friday to defeat Mumbai Tigers by a solitary goal in the second leg match of the final phase of the 2nd division I-League held at Bangalore Football Stadium on Friday. With this win Rangdajied has collected ten points and now shares the second spot along with Bhawanipore who has also pocked the same points.

With this win, the league is wide open.

In the first leg match Rangdajied had humbled Mumbai Tiger by 3-1. N Friday playing a barren first half Shillong team took to the field all charged up in the second half and went on to score the lone goal of the match in the third minutes when Jeribe Kelechi tapped skipper Restom Khriam set ball home.

The score card would have read differently had had Babatunde Ayomide converted the spot kick and four other chances that came his way.
In the 54th minutes referee Anthony Elvis of Goa awarded a spot kick after he caught Karan Atwal bringing down Korean Shin Hojun inside the 24 yard arena. Babatunde took the kick which re-bounced hitting the bar.

In the 83rd minutes Shambu Mistry, Rangdajied custodian made a great save when he denied the Indian team dead ball specialist NP Pardeep from penetrating into his goal.

Much to the surprise of the crowed fourth official MB Santosh Kumar of Kerala gave an eight minutes injury time at the end of the regulated time of 90 minute.

On Tuesday, both the Shillong teams Rangdajied and Langsning FC will play against each other’s.- By Suraj Joshi
