Six localities identified for Wahumkhrah project

Shillong, August 6: Continuing its campaign for the “Save Wahumkhrah and Umshypi” project the task force has identified six localities as catchment areas for the pilot project.
The six localities was identified during the meeting of the ngos, which forms the task force, with the East Khasi hills deputy commissioner Sanjay Goel on Monday.
The six localities where the pilot project will take off shortly are Cliff Colony, Risa Colony, Wahdingling and Malki as the catchment area for Umshirpi and Lapalang and Demseniong for Wahumkhrah.
The meeting also felt that there is an urgent need to educate the people on the earning they can generate through the domestic waste products.
The working group also presented a working module in which the technical team of the force has emphasized on the collection of garbage’s, segregation of garbage’s and transportation of garbage’s to the proper channel.- By Our Reporter
