SHILLONG, APRIL 10: Over two-hundred-and-fifty pending cases are are awaiting disposal in the three fast track courts of the state, deputy chief minister Rowel Lyngdoh informed the Assembly on Wednesday.
Out of the 250 cases, 118 cases are pending in the Jowai fast tract court, 45 in Tura and 17 cases in Shillong, he said in reply to a supplementary question raised during the Question Hour.
Lyngdoh said during the last five years a total of 660 cases were disposed by the three fast tract courts, out of which 208 were in Shillong, 239 in Jowai and 213 in Tura.
Senior Congress leader D. D. Lapang urged the government to extend the fast tract courts to the other districts of the state to ensure speedy justice to victims of crimes against women and children. (By Our Reporter)
