SHILLONG, APR 9: Retired self-styled Lieutenant of the Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) Ban Pyrkhat Langstieh, also known as Pyntngen, surrendered before the East Khasi hills Superintendent of Police M Kharkhrang on Tuesday.
Kharkhrang informed reporters that Ban Pyrkhat Langstieh is a resident of Mission compound and of 2001 batch of the HNLC and he surrendered because he wants to join the main stream.
Kharkhrang said he is one of the suspects to put up the banned HNLC flag in the student’s field on the HNLC raising day in August, 2012.
Due to ill health, he has been relieved from his duty by the outfit last week after serving for 12 long years.
Police also claimed that HNLC publicity secretary Sainkupar Nongtraw had issued a notice thanking Langstieh’s family for their moral support and also wished him well. – By Our Reporter
