BANGALORE, MAR 30: Rangdajied United FC held Kolkata Southern Samity to a 1-1 draw in the opening batch at the second division of the I-League final rounds leg held on Saturday at the Bangalore Football stadium. Both the teams earned a point each.
The Shillong boys from the hills did well playing in a humid Bangalore temperature as they took on the boys from Kolkata who are adapt to a Bangalore type temperature,
It was Rangdajied who took the lead on the thirtieth minute of the game when Baba Tunde Ayomide headed home a well measured cross from skipper Rustom Khyriem, bringing jubilation to the boys from Shillong.
However, the joy in the Shillong camp was short lived as Kolkata Southern Samity fought back and in the fiftieth minutes of the game Suroj Mondal push home a deflected ball from Rangdajied custodian Surjay K. Pariyar leveling the score.
As the match went into extra time, Shillong boys displayed a brilliant defense making it impossible for the Kolkata side to score any more goals.
With this draw both the teams have earned one point each.
Rangdajied player Baba Tunde Ayomide had to be rushed to the hospital in the 73rd minute if the game as he was injured. The nature of his injury is still awaited.
