Elephant reserve

SHILLONG, MARCH 22: The Meghalaya government plans to set up an Elephant Reserved Forest in the West Khasi Hills district which has 286 pachyderms in its jungles.

State forests and environment minister Prestone Tynsong told the Assembly on Friday that a public notice in this regard has already been issued. This will be the second such reserve forest after the one in the Garo Hills. The total elephant population the state is 1232. (By Our Reporter)
