Two GNLA arrested

SHILLONG, FEB 12: In a joint operation on Tuesday, the BSF and the Meghalaya police arrested a twenty-six year old GNLA militant Mariours N Sangma and an over-ground worker nineteen years old Jarbish A Sangma of the militant outfit from West Garo hills.

The GNLA militant and the over ground worker were arrested after the BSF were given specific intelligence input about the where about of the Mariours. Along with the Meghalaya police, the BSF launched an operation and apprehended Mariours from Betasing area of West Garo hills district.

During the search, the security forces recovered one mobile phone with two Indian SIMs from Mariours.Laterone country made gun, two country made rounds and one camouflage uniform recovered was also recovered from Ajangre area

During preliminary questioning, Mariours confessed to being involved in number of extortions and other militants activities.  Acting on the information he provided to the BSF and police, the security forces conducted another joint operation and Ajangre are and apprehended the over ground worker Jarbish  A Sangma

The GNLA militant and the over ground worker have been handed over to the police along with the seize items so that legal proceedings can be initiate against them.- By Our Reporter
