South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai on Tuesday donated his one month salary as financial aid to Kmoin Wahlang, the remarkable long-distance septuagenarian superstar from Meghalaya .
Wahlang has been invited to join the Indian athletics team for the 13th Pan Pacific Masters Games 2024 to be held in Australia from 1 to 10 November 2024.
76-year-old Wahlang from Sngimawlein village of South West Khasi Hills has represented Meghalaya in different long distance running competitions in different parts of the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanbor Shullai said that Wahlang is a living example for everyone who wants to represent the state and the country.
“This small gesture is part of the encouragement to encourage Wahlang to continue to work hard and make the state and the country proud in the Pan Pacific Masters Games 2024” said Shullai.
As part of his encouragement to Wahlang, Shullai had donated Rs 1 lakhs as mark of support to the septuagenarian superstar and Rs 30,000 to her coach Biningstar Lyngkhoi.
“Although we cannot attend the Pan Pacific Masters Games 2024 in Australia, we wish you the very best and bring glory to Meghalaya and the country” said Shullai while greeting Wahlang at the end of the felicitation program.
