SHILLONG, JAN 28: Three passengers died on the spot and around thirty-five of the Guwahati bound passengers were seriously injured when a night super bus AS-01CC-4009 skided off the road and plunged in the gorge in Mawblei early Monday morning. The accident took place at around 4.30 am Monday.
According to a policeman who went o the spot and shifted the injured to the Shillong Civil hospital, at least ten of those injured were in very critical conditions. All the passengers who were in the bus were immediately shifted to the hospital.
There were forty-one passengers who were in the bus that came from Silchar and heading towards Guwahati. A traffic police officer said that some passengers got down in Mawblei just before the accident took place. He said, “There were a total of forty-one passengers, including the driver and the conductor, in the bus, but some passengers got down in Mawblei just before the accident took place.”
The accident took place near the MUDA parking lots in Mawblei. The night super bus skidded off the road and just rolled down the cliff. The officer said the police were yet to ascertain the cause of the accident.
Police officers rushed to the Shillong Civil hospital to get the details of the passengers who were injured. When this website reporter went wanted to take the picture of those injured the police did not allow saying that the passengers were serious and to come back later to collect the identities of the dead as well as injured passengers.- By Our Reporter
