A major fire incident in the forests of Golflink area was averted with the timely action taken by the Central Reserve Police Force 67 Battalion on Monday afternoon.
The swift action of the CRPF personnel in controlling the flames brought a major relief to residents of Golflinks and its surroundings.
On receiving the information, battalion commandant Suni Kumar Sabita without wasing any time sent the water tanker lying in the camp to the place of occurrence along with the soldiers.
The fire was immediately brought under control and no major incident happened. Had there been some delay, the flames would have spread to a school, which was located nearby.
The people of the area were very happy with this action of CRPF and they thanked the Battalion Commandant and said that CRPF not only protects from anti-social elements but also stands with the people in such disasters.
Police also came and inspected the incident site.
This was not the first time that CRPF has helped to prevent a fire incident. Earlier, the CRPF had taken swift action and successfully tackled a fire incident at Forest Colony area.
Sabita has appealed to the public not to throw any kind of flammable sealing material or fire in the nearby forests keeping in mind that it is dry season, otherwise it will be harmful not only for the forest but also for the surrounding forests.
“A terrible incident can happen even for residential areas. Therefore, there is a need to be careful or you should not smoke a cigarette and throw it carelessly in the forest because it can take a very dangerous form,” he said.
