CM launches Meghalaya Trails’ App

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Tuesday launched the ‘Meghalaya Trails’ App and coffee table book titled ‘Echoes of the Hills: Trekking Meghalaya” in presence of Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh.
The initiative aims to promote sustainable adventure and eco-tourism.

‘Meghalaya Trails’ App will serve as a central hub for travellers, providing access to information on certified guides, local homestays, and tourism packages.

The coffee table book ‘Echoes of the Hills: Trekking Meghalaya’ highlights new 25 multi-day trekking trails and 5 one-day city hiking trails that were mapped across Meghalaya.

As part of the initiative, Meghalaya Tourism has undertaken a significant initiative by providing extensive training to 113 volunteers of the State, who have undergone training at Darjeeling. The Trip Leader Training Program (TLTP), collaborated with local communities, to equip them with essential skills for guiding roles in adventure tourism.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma urged the trained guides, to be the brand ambassadors of Meghalaya and assist the tourist and enable them to experience the best of Meghalaya.

He also urged the tourism department to promote the stories of different treks and build amenities and facilities for a visitor to rural areas, where these treks has been identified.
