The Meghalaya Asha Workers Union (MASHAWU) on Friday called off its indefinite strike and sit-in demonstration scheduled to be held in-front of the main Secretariat on November 27 following the recent meeting with the state government. The Union however is yet to decide on whether to accept or reject the state government’s decision to enhance their fixed incentive to Rs 3,000 under the new scheme “
Community Based Health Incentive Scheme (CHIS)”.
After the executive committee meeting held at Golflink Dorbar Shnong Community hall, President of the Union Mirajune Myrsing said, “We have decided to call off our agitation and resume work with immediate effect.”
“However, we are yet to take a call on whether to accept or reject the government’s offer to enhance the fixed incentive by Rs 1,000,” she said while adding, “This is because the union has decided to wait for the government to constitute the committees at the district level to examine our demand.”
Myrsing said today’s meeting has also resolved to give three months’ time to the government to constitute these committees for implementation of the new scheme.
