Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh on Thursday informed that it will take another two weeks for the government to finalise the tendering process for operation of the 108 emergency services in the state.
“In fact I just took a briefing from the Managing Director of the National Health Mission on the matter of the completion of the tender that was recently floated. He has kept me abreast and I am informed that we are well ahead of the tendering procedures and that it will likely take approximately two to two and a half weeks time (to finalise the process),” Lyngdoh told reporters.
According to her, many new things have been inserted in the tender to improve the emergency services for the state of Meghalaya.
The government has floated the tender after it had terminated the contract with the GVK EMRI.
The minister informed that the staff of the 108 emergency services have also met her today and expressed anxiousness about the predicament of their job status.
“However, I have given them the assurance that government of Meghalaya will handhold and protect services of all deserving 108 service workers,” she said while adding “Very importantly that we ensure that the workers of the state are protected as per law and we will fight for their protection and we will ensure that the transition to this new company whatever be the name of the company that does become successful in that tender will take care of the people of the state of Meghalaya.”
