SHILLONG, FEB 14: BJP national chief Jagat Prakash Nadda addressed a huge public meeting organized at Jhalupara Taxi Stand Ground, Shillong, Meghalaya on Tuesday and urged the public to build a corruption-free Meghalaya under the leadership of respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
He appealed to the people to form a double engine government in Meghalaya. Meghalaya BJP President and candidate from 18, West Shillong, Ernest Mawrie, party’s national secretary and BJP co-incharge of Meghalaya, Rituraj Sinha, 19, South Shillong candidate, Sanbor Shullai and BJP candidate from 14, Pynthorumkhrah, AL Hek were also present.
Nadda said that it is clearly visible from the enthusiasm of the people and the support being received by the BJP in Meghalaya that the people have decided to give a clear majority to the BJP. The people are determined to form the BJP government in Meghalaya.
BJP chief said that ever since the Bharatiya Janata Party government came to power at the Center under the leadership of respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and ever since he has focused on the development of the North East, the competition for development has started here. It is our endeavor that all the states move ahead on the path of development at a fast pace. However, Meghalaya is finding it difficult to grow as fast due to corruption and some other reasons. Therefore, we have decided that we will make Meghalaya corruption free in the next five years and take the state forward. If Meghalaya has to be made a corruption-free state, then you will have to make all the BJP candidates victorious and send them to the assembly.
Nadda said that today India has been established as an economic superpower in the world under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Today we are seeing what is the condition of Pakistan, Sri Lanka and many other countries of the world. It means that wrong policy has wrong results and right policy has right results.
The BJP national president said that respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi has worked to bring peace, prosperity and development in the Ashtalakshmi (Eight Godesses) states of the entire North East. The Northeast which was earlier known for bandh, blockade, insurgency, is today known for peace, prosperity and happiness. About 850 Jan-Dhan Vikas Kendras have been opened in the Northeast, out of which 39 have been opened in Meghalaya. About Rs 9 lakh crore is being spent on the infrastructure development of the entire Northeast. About Rs 3,400 crore has been spent on the North East Special Infrastructure Development. Respected Prime Minister is working on the mantra of “HIRA” for the development of North East. Here ‘H’ stands for Highway, ‘I’ stands for Internet, ‘R’ stands for Railways and ‘A’ stands for Airway Development. 39 Eklavya Model Schools have also been opened in Meghalaya.
Nadda said that just on 18th December 2022, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had inaugurated and laid foundation stones of various projects worth about Rs 2450 crore during the Golden Jubilee celebration of the NEC. He also inaugurated the new campus of IIM Shillong at Umsawali and the Shillong-Dingpasoh road, inaugurated the spawn laboratory at the Mushroom Development Centre, an Integrated Beekeeping Development Center, and also laid the foundation stone for a road project in Meghalaya. He also laid the foundation stone of Integrated Hospitality and Convention Center at Tura and Shillong Technology Park Phase-II during the event. The central government has also allocated around Rs 196 crore for Shillong Smart City.
Nadda said that the Modi government has given a new pace to development in Meghalaya. About 2.10 lakh gas connections were distributed in Meghalaya under PM Ujjwala Yojana, about 70 thousand houses were built under PM Awas Yojana, about 3.40 lakh houses were connected with Jal Jeevan Mission and about 2.70 lakh toilets were constructed. About two lakh farmers are being benefited in Meghalaya under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi. Under the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, about 80 crore people of the country are being provided free 5 kg wheat/rice and one kg pulses for the last two and a half years. In Meghalaya also, about 22 lakh people are getting the benefit of this scheme. Electricity has been provided to all the houses. Ayushman Bharat is proving to be a boon for the people here.
Nadda said that I have come to know that nowadays some TMC has come here even after doing this. ‘T’ stands for Tola Baazi, ‘M’ stands for Money Laundering and Mafiaraj and ‘C’ stands for Corruption and Commission. These people are the people who do politics by dividing the society. These are the people who are destroying the culture here. These are the people who do politics on the basis of religion. Moreover, they call people from other countries also for votes. Such people should never be allowed to come into the mainstream here. As far as Congress is concerned – it is neither here nor there. They have neither any ideology nor any faith. They fight separately in Kerala, unite in Tripura, unite in West Bengal. All they want is power.
The BJP president said, “Tomorrow I will put BJP’s vision for Meghalaya in front of the public that where we want to reach Meghalaya in the next five years. Whatever BJP says, it does and what it does not do, but if it is necessary for the welfare of the people, then we do that also. This is our track record. We always take the report card of our work in front of the public. The whole world has appreciated India’s decisive fight during the Corona period. During the Russo-Ukraine war, our relief and rescue operations and our policy have been praised by everyone. Today India is the fastest growing economy in the world. Mobile, Pharmacy, Automobile, FDI – India has written a new story of development in all sectors under the leadership of respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. That’s why I appeal to all of you that if the button is pressed at the right place, development takes place and if it is pressed at the wrong place, corruption and commission take place. All of you make all the candidates of BJP win and bring Meghalaya into the mainstream of development.”
