SHILLONG, FEB 6: PDF leader and cabinet minister Banteidor Lyngdoh on Monday said his party has got a good chance to win seven to eight seats in the upcoming assembly elections, slated to be held on February 27.
“We want our state to be free from corruption because we lack in everything in terms of development so that is why PDF is having a good chance to win in seven to eight seats,” Lyngdoh told reporters after filing his nomination.
The sitting legislator of Mawkynrew constituency was accompanied by his wife and supporters.
He said that the party has done so much through the Sports and Agriculture departments to bring a change for the interest of the people.
When asked that the MDA government has been alleged of failing in many fronts, Lyngdoh however said that the PDF has not failed the people of the state.
“We are part of the government but we have not failed. You have seen what we have done for the people of the state,” he said.
On the allegation that the NPP is misusing the FOCUS schemes, the PDF leader however said everybody will take credit but people know who has done the work.
“We are part of the government, the chief minister is there, but I have done my part to bring a change. After how many years, we brought back the Meghalaya Games on top of that the best of the best we organize the Olympic Games,” he said.
Expressing confidence to retain the Mawkynrew seat, Lyngdoh said, “I am hundred percent sure that I will be coming back because people have seen what I have done in the last five years.”
He said that although money power affects every election but this time money power will not work because the people are fed up.
With regards to the NPP denying offering him Rs 5 crore to join the party, Lyngdoh said, “That is the thing which people are also talking about all over the state which they know who has not offered and who has been offered. That is up to them but I have already stated and mentioned and spoken out about corruption that we want to see a free corruption state from this election.”
