SHILLONG, JAN 20: The Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills District has imposed restrictions on different activities ahead of the General Elections to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly which will be held on the 27 th Feb,2023.The Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills District,Mawkyrwat has informed that the Model Code of Conduct and other instructions of the election commission have become operative in the district and in order to ensure peaceful conduct of election the Code of conduct and Prevention of Defacement of Public and Private Properties has been implemented in the districtTherefore under section144 CrPc the Deputy Commissioner has laid down restrictions which prohibits wall writing ,pasting of of posters/papers or defacement in any forms or erecting ,displaying of cut outs,hoardings,banners, etc shall be permitted on any public property ,public premises.No political parties or candidates will be allowed to put up banners on all roads/thoroughfares.No wall writing,pasting of posters /papers ,defacement in any other form or erecting /displaying of cut out,hoardings,banners etc shall be permitted on any private property ,private walls without the
WRITTEN PERMISSION from the house owners and final approval from the office of the District Election Officer No election meetings would be allowed without taking permission from the office of the District Election Officer and subsequently local headmen regarding venue of the meeting.No Public Address System and loudspeakers are allowed to be used between 10Pm to 6AM.If Public Address System and loud speakers are used without permission from the office of the District Election Officer the same would be seized immediately by the local authorities. No rallies and processions will be allowed without permission from the District Election Officer.The order will come into force with immediate effect till the completion of the entire election process.
