SHILLONG, DEC 6: Over 658 people who are working as domestic workers, sweepers, plumbers, Ashas, anganwadi, health workers, taxi laborers and others were felicitated by BJP South Shillong under the leadership of its legislator and cabinet minister Sanbor Shullai on Tuesday.
The objective of the programme held at U Soso Tham Auditorium was to recognize the services extended by such people.
Speaking on the occasion, Shullai said these workers have immensely contributed to the society and without them there will be chaos.
He also informed that a total of Rs 14 lakh financial assistance from his monthly salary have been extended to all 658 workers. Rs 2000 was given to each of the awardee during the function. “I am planning to increase the amount in the coming year,” he said.
