SHILLONG, OCT 17: The Congress is likely to make early announcements of its candidates for the upcoming 2023 Assembly elections in the state.
Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) chief Vincent H Pala today informed that the party has already started the process of calling applications from different blocks.
“We are already in the process and it will be over by mid of December and hopefully by the end of December we will be able to send (the names of candidates for approval) to Delhi. I hope this time we will try to see the declaration or announcement of the candidates should be in advance and not at the nick of the hour,” he said.
Pala said, “This is because people have experienced in terms of price rise, in terms of law and order, in terms of corruption, in terms of unemployment – the MDA government has failed on all fronts.”
He said although the Congress did suffer a setback when all its 17 MLAs left the party, the party is now in a position where we can fight the elections confidently with the coming of new faces.”
According to him, the people of Meghalaya want the Congress to come back as they are fed up with the present government.
