SHILLONG, MAY 4: The state government has requested the National Testing Agency (NTA) to set up a centre for conducting the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) in Garo Hills region.
“We have demanded that the NTA should also set up a centre for conducting the NEET exam in Garo Hills,” Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui told reporters on Wednesday.
He informed that the state government is also fighting for more centres for conducting the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) as well as at present there are only three centres in the state of Meghalaya.
Rymbui however said in order to ease the pressure on the students, the Centre has agreed to exempt the affiliated colleges in Meghalaya from CUET. “We are now awaiting for the notification (in this regard) to come out,” he added.
