SHILLONG, APR 18: The state government on Monday assured to make public the report of the Independent Inquiry Committee headed by retired Justice RN Mishra into the alleged irregularities in the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL).
“In the next Assembly session, we will also lay it on the table of the House so that the recommendations made by the committee will be made public,” Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Power Prestone Tynsong told reporters.
He informed that the power department has been asked to study the report and the recommendations made thereof.
“We will then have a meeting and accordingly we will (implement the) the recommendations made by the committee. Hopefully by next month, I will be able to tell you exactly the position of this,” Tynsong said.
On the frequent power cuts in Ri Bhoi district, the deputy chief minister said that he has already alerted the officials of the MeECL to put in extra effort to ensure people do not suffer much.
He however said there are incidents where even the sub-station was totally destroyed and damaged by natural calamity. “So I have instructed them to work 24 x 7 and make sure reinstallation of power has to take place immediately,” he added.
