SHILLONG, MAR 24: The Ministry of Home Affairs has yet again postponed the meeting to March 29, to finalize the border agreement signed between Assam and Meghalaya for resolving the 6 of the 12 areas of difference .
Informing this on Thursday, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma told reporters that the meeting has been fixed for March 29 at 4.30pm.
“This communication has come from MHA…So all preparations are being made for March 29,” he said.
Earlier, Sangma had then informed in the just concluded Assembly’s budget session that the signing of the agreement for resolving the six areas of difference between Assam and Meghalaya will take place in New Delhi on March 27.
“The signing of this agreement and the final discussion with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) will take place within this month itself,” Sangma had said.
He had also informed that all the cabinet colleagues and officials who are involved in the exercise will be going to Delhi to mark the important occasion.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Chief Ministers of Assam and Meghalaya on January 29 and was submitted to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah on January 31, for examination and consideration of the MHA.
