SHILLONG, MAR 24: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday said he would take up with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah the peace talks with the banned Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC).
“Yes, given the opportunity when we are there meeting the union home minister this issue will come up for sure at an official level and we will try to move forward the process,” Sangma told reporters.
He however said that it is a process that will require a lot of meetings, discussions and coordination.
“It is a process so whenever we get a chance and opportunity we will discuss the matter. We will take the discussion forward because it is a very complex situation just like the border issue– where there cannot be prescribed norms saying this is how we move forward,” Sangma said.
“We will take the matter forward but that does not necessarily mean we will come to a decision or a conclusion in every meeting that we move forward,” he added.
On the HNLC’s appeal to suspend police activities against the outfit, the chief minister however said discussion will start and then we will see.
