SHILLONG, MAR 23: The Meghalaya State Skills Development Society today inaugurated the MSSDS Haat Bazaar at the premises of the State Central Library, Shillong. Smt. R. V Suchiang, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Meghalaya attended the programme as the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, Suchiang quoted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement that Skill development is the national need today and it is a foundation for Aatma-nirbhar India- a self-reliant India. She lauded the efforts of MSSDS for organising the Haat Bazaar, a Platform for entrepreneurs to showcase their products and produce and hope that this platform will inspire others to come forward and take this initiative and programme of the government. She added that the government is committed to improve the employability of the youths of Meghalaya where the government recently launched the Skills Meghalaya Under the Skills India, the scheme which aims to build start ups, to empower the youth, to give them requisite learning and a secure future and to give the right skill for the right person. It also aims for a robust MSME sector which is the backbone of the economy of the country.
