SHILLONG, FEB 5: Union Law & Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju on Saturday said the Home Affairs Ministry is looking into the matter related to the demand for implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Meghalaya.
“If I make an announcement here, it will not be wise because the matters which are under discussion should be dealt with very carefully, ” Rijiju told reporters.
He said if an announcement is to be made and if decisions are to be taken, it will be taken but to make an out of turn announcement it will not be appropriate for him.
The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly had unanimously passed an official resolution urging the Centre to implement ILP in 2019. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had also met the state government and other stakeholders including pro-ILP groups last year.
