SHILLONG, JAN 21: The state on Friday recorded one new COVID-19 related death, mounting the number of fatalities to 1,495 even as 331 persons have tested positive for the virus, taking the total active cases to 1,782.
According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, the case was reported from East Khasi Hills.
Dr War also informed of the 331 new cases, 239 were detected in East Khasi Hills, 44 West Garo Hills, 21 Ri Bhoi, 8 West Jaintia Hills, 5 East Garo Hills, 2 each in Eastern West Khasi Hills, South West Khasi Hills, South Garo Hills and East Jaintia Hills and 1 each in North Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills.
He said that 177 persons have recovered from the viral infection of which 138 are from East Khasi Hills, 22 West Garo Hills, 3 West Jaintia Hills, 2 South Garo Hills, 2 East Jaintia Hills and 1 East Garo Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 87,735 COVID-19 cases out of which 1,782 are active cases, 84,458 recovered and 1,495 deaths.
East Khasi Hills has the highest number of COVID-19 cases at 1,217 followed by West Garo Hills 243, Ri Bhoi 123, West Jaintia Hills 49, East Jaintia Hills 36, West Khasi Hills 25, Eastern West Khasi Hills 19, South West Khasi Hills 16, South West Garo Hills 15, South Garo Hills 15, East Garo Hills 13 and North Garo Hills 11.
