SHILLONG, DEC 24: Senior IPS officer Idashisha Nongrang is all set to take temporary charge of the office of the Director General of Police pending appointment of a full-fledged DGP.
Nongrang, who belonged to the 1992 batch, is currently the Special Director General of Police.
Her appointment came in view of the retirement of the incumbent Director General of Police (DGP) R Chandranathan.
“Pending appointment of a full-fledged Director General of Police (DGP)…in the interest of public service, Idashisha Nongrang, IPS (RR 1992), Special Director General of Police, Meghalaya is temporarily allowed to look after the office of the DGP, Meghalaya vice R Chandranathan, IPS, DGP retired with effect from December 31,” said a notification issued by the Additional Chief Secretary in-charge Home (Police) DP Wahlang on Thursday.
