SHILLONG, NOV 12: The state Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) on Friday sought the intervention of the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma into the admission problem faced by over 144 students in Jaintia Hills.
“My humble request to you is to kindly look into the matter very sympathetically as the issue concerns the future of 144 young citizens of the state,” LJP state president Jamil Ahmed said in a letter to Sangma.
He informed that he has received a letter from the Jaintia Youth Federation (JYF) Jowai informing about the non-availability of seats for class XI students in Kiang Nangbah Government Higher Secondary School and other private institutions.
The organization also informed that they have already submitted the names, address and contact numbers of all the students to the Joint Director of Education but so far the government has not taken any action.
Ahmed also reminded the state government and its duty by quoting former Chief Justice of India, P N Bhagwati who stated: “The child is a soul with a being, a nature and capacities of its own, who must be helped to find them, to grow into their maturity, into a fullness of physical and vital energy and the utmost breadth, depth and height of its emotional, intellectual and spiritual being; otherwise there cannot be a healthy growth of the nation.”
