SHILLONG, SEPT 10: The Border Security Force (BSF) has seized cosmetic items worth more than Rs 50 lakhs on Thursday.
Acting on a tip off, troops of 30 Bn, BSF launched three special operation in the border areas of BOP Umsyiem, Dawki and Nayabazar of 30 Bn BSF, East Khasi Hills district and foiled the attempt of smugglers by seizing huge quantity of cosmetic items including fairness cream, Shampoo, Hair oil etc worth approx Rupees 25 Lakhs, which were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh.
In another incident, BSF troops of BOP Sibbari, 55 Bn BSF seized cosmetic items such as Soap and Fairness cream worth approx. Rupees 26 lakhs in South Garo Hills district while being smuggled to Bangladesh.
All the seized items were handed over to the concerned Customs office for further legal action.
Sh Inderjit Singh Rana, Inspector General, BSF, Meghalaya Frontier in his statement said that, BSF Meghalaya has been doing their best to curb smuggling activities on Indo-Bangladesh border. He also appreciated and motivated the border men for their unrest duty on border in spite of adverse weather and terrain of Meghalaya Border. By Our Reporter
