SHILLONG, JUL 16: The state on Friday recorded five COVID-19 related deaths, pushing the death toll to 931 in the state.
According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 3 were reported from East Khasi Hills district and 1 each from East Jaintia Hills district and South West Khasi Hills district.
He said the state also detected 441 new cases. These include 152 in East Khasi Hills, 126 West Garo Hills, 27 Ri Bhoi, 23 West Jaintia Hills, 18 East Garo Hills, 28 West Khasi Hills, 10 South West Garo Hills, 17 North Garo Hills, 8 East Jaintia Hills and 15 South Garo Hills.
Dr War also informed that 264 persons have recovered from the viral infection.
Of these, 7 are from Ri Bhoi, 66 East Khasi Hills, 28 West Jaintia Hills, 12 West Khasi Hills, 81 West Garo Hills, 20 East Jaintia Hills, 1 South West Khasi Hills, 13 East Garo Hills, 7 South West Garo Hills, 20 North Garo Hills and 9 South Garo Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 56,493 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,166 are active cases, 51,396 recovered and 931 deaths.
With 1,189 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Garo Hills with 814 cases and Ri Bhoi with 712 cases.
There are 479 cases in West Jaintia Hills, 221 West Khasi Hills, 169 North Garo Hills, 157 East Garo Hills, 145 South West Khasi Hills, 86 East Jaintia Hills, 104 South Garo Hills and 90 South West Garo Hills.
