SHILLONG, JUN 24: Chief Adviser to the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) Akki A Sangma has demanded investigation into the allegations made against his qualification as well as against his party, the BJP.
“I demand an open investigation into the serious allegations levelled as regards my underqualification as well as the allegations against the party, so as to allow the truth to prevail over these false statements and claims, which are smeared with political agenda by a section of people,” Sangma said in a statement issued on Thursday.
Sangma said he was surprised and upset by certain statements made by a section of people…making allegations and insinuations against him and his appointment as the Chief Advisor to the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of GHADC.
He further clarified that he has been a member of the Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha since 2014 and on May 28, last year he was appointed as the vice president of the Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha (BJP Youth Wing) Meghalaya Pradesh.
“I have always been a committed and sincere karyakarta of the Bharatiya Janata Party, and the allegations made in the said publications intend to completely demean the party establishment itself, which is not only inappropriate but also unfortunate,” he said.
According to him, the Bharatiya Janata Party is one of the biggest political outfits in the world, and all appointments to various party posts are made democratically and in a transparent manner.
“Insofar as some questions have been raised on my educational qualifications, I wish to clarify that such allegations are completely false…,”he added.
Further, Sangma said that the allegations against the BJP Meghalaya In-charge Dr M Chuba Ao as regards the sourcing of 1% from the central fund is completely false, baseless and unfounded. “(Allegation) is clearly made with an intention to malign the image of Dr M Chuba Ao, and the party itself,” he said.
