SHILLONG, JUN 18: The state on Friday recorded nine deaths due to COVID-19 pushing the death toll to 771.
According to the Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 3 deaths were reported from East Khasi Hills district and one each from East Jaintia Hills district, Ri Bhoi district, South West Garo Hills district, West Garo Hills district, West Jaintia Hills district and West Khasi Hills district.
The state has also recorded 650 new COVID-19 cases and with this, the total number of active cases stands at 4,819.
Dr War said the new cases include 220 in East Khasi Hills, 109 West Garo Hills, 101 West Jaintia Hills, 92 Ri Bhoi, 47 East Garo Hills, 25 South West Khasi Hills, 19 South West Garo Hills, 18 South Garo Hills, 8 East Jaintia Hills, 7 North Garo Hills and 4 West Khasi Hills.
He also informed that 431 patients have also recovered from the viral infection during the past 24 hours.
Of these, 126 are from East Khasi Hills, 86 West Jaintia Hills, 66 West Garo Hills, 38 Ri Bhoi, 31 North Garo Hills, 26 East Garo Hills, 22 South West Garo Hills, 15 West Khasi Hills, 11 East Jaintia Hills, 6 South Garo Hills and 4 South West Khasi Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 44,382 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,819 are active cases, 38,792 recovered and 771 deaths.
With 1,674 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Garo Hills with 751 cases and 546 West Jaintia Hills.
There are 411 cases in Ri Bhoi, 321 South West Khasi Hills, 247 North Garo Hills, 231 South West Garo Hills, 235 East Garo Hills, 164 West Khasi Hills, 160 South Garo Hills and 79 East Jaintia Hills.
