SHILLONG, FEB 8: A one-month-old baby died of COVID-19 on Monday, taking the death toll to 148 in the state.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said that Risuklin Kharkongor and her baby girl from Jyntah village in East Khasi Hills district were admitted at the Ganesh Das Government Maternal and Child Health hospital on February 5. Both were tested positive for COVID-19.
“However, the baby died on February 7, due to neonatal seizures with COVID-19,” he said.
Meanwhile, the state has detected only one case of COVID-19 in East Khasi Hills district while 3 patients have recovered from the viral infection in the same district on Monday.
So far, the state has detected a total of 13,886 COVID-19 cases out of which 134 are active cases, 13,604 recovered and 148 deaths.
East Khasi Hills has 89 active cases, Ri Bhoi 22, West Jaintia Hills 16, West Khasi Hills 4, East Jaintia Hills 2 and West Garo Hills 1.
On the other hand, of the 3,46,146 persons who have tested for COVID-19 in the state as on date, 3,32,260 were tested negative for the virus even as 36 persons are in institutional quarantine and 98 under home quarantine.
There are 90,097 entrants from outside the state.
