SHILLONG, DEC 23: One more person has died due to COVID-19, taking the death toll to 135 in the state on Wednesday.
The state has also recorded the highest single-day recoveries of 159 patients from the viral infection even as 29 new cases were detected.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said the recovered patients include 112 from East Khasi Hills district, 40 West Jaintia Hills district, 2 West Garo Hills district, 1 East Jaintia Hills district, 1 Ri Bhoi district, 1 South Garo Hills district, 1 South West Garo Hills district and 1 West Khasi Hills district.
Of 29 fresh cases detected on Wednesday, he said 24 are from East Khasi Hills, 3 West Garo Hills, 1 South West Garo Hills and 1 West Khasi Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 13,328 COVID-19 cases out of which 299 are active cases, 12,894 recovered and 135 deaths.
Of the total active cases, East Khasi Hills has 204 positive cases, Ri Bhoi 30, West Garo Hills 30, West Jaintia Hills 12, South West Garo Hills 5, East Garo Hills 5, West Khasi Hills 5, South Garo Hills 3, North Garo Hills 3 and East Jaintia Hills 2.
“Till date, swab samples of 2,83,632 persons have been tested of which 2,70,304 were found negative,” the senior medical official said.
There are 75,651 entrants from outside the state.
