SHILLONG, DEC 19: Meghalaya Minister i/c Agriculture, etc, Shri Banteidor Lyngdoh today inaugurated the Veterinary Dispensary at Thangsning village, East Khasi Hills in presence of Meghalaya Minister i/c C & RD, Shri. Hamletson Dohling and senior officials of the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department.
The Dispensary was the upgradation of the Veterinary Aid Centre and was constructed under RIDF-XXIV at a project cost of Rs. 1,45,78,000/-.
In his inaugural speech, Shri Lyngdoh, said that the dispensary will cater to the health needs of the livestock in the area. Majority of the population of Thangsning are livestock farmers, especially piggery and there is a need to have an accessible animal health care facility for their animals and livestock, he said. Dedicated the dispensary to the public, Shri. Lyngdoh expressed hoped that the people of the village and its adjoining areas will greatly benefit from the dispensary and urged the public to extend their cooperation in making government plans and schemes successful.
Shri. Dohling, in his speech said that development can come only when people and government work unitedly. He said that the government has come up with various livestock missions which have the potential to raise the income of the farming community and generate employment opportunities. He therefore called upon the people of the area to take up livestock farming on a large scale to meet the demand in the State.
