SHILLONG, JUNE 2: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today reviewed the Covid-19 preparedness at Williamnagar in East Garo Hills and visited institutional quarantine centres.
Under the initiative of the DC of East Garo Hills Swapnil Tembe, the Chief Minister also distributed General Knowledge books to the persons undergoing quarantine.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Govt. Chief Whip Marcuise Marak, Rongjeng MLA and Transport Chairman, Jim M Sangma and Co-Chairman, Meghalaya Resource Mobilisation, S B Sangma.
“Next few weeks will be challenging as we expect stranded citizens return home. We have to remain alert and should not panic if we have positive cases,” the Chief Minister said during his meeting with the officials of administration and the health department.
He also urged the district administration to protect the elderly people and to be ready for ‘new normal’ post lockdown.
He told the officials that investment in health sector is vital and government is working to ramp up health care services across the State. He also informed that ambulance will be made available across the State in different health care facilities.
He also visited the Civil Hospital, Williamnagar and inspected the facilities.
At Tura, the Chief Minister visited several community quarantine centres, and persons undergoing home quarantine at Matchakolgre, Rongkhon, Araimile, Jerusalem and Te’teng Aja.
