MSGEF calls on govt employees to donate 1 day salary to CMRF

SHILLONG, MAY 28: The Meghalaya State Government Employees Federation (MSGEF) on Thursday lauded the Conrad K Sangma-led state government’s decision not to defer salary of government employees.

According to a statement, the MSGEF has expressed its deepest gratitude to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma for withdrawing the order of deferment of salary for the employees.

“This will provide some comfort to those employees who are facing financial distress in view of the low net takeaway salary after the deferment and all other deductions,” it said.

The MSGEF in its memorandum submitted earlier on May 18 had appealed to the chief minister to withdraw the order of deferment of salary citing that many employees are having a difficult time managing their personal finances due to the low disposable personal income.

The Federation has further appealed to all government employees to contribute one day’s salary as a mark of solidarity and extending support to the state government to meet its COVID-19 expenditure.

The MSGEF extends its support, wishes and prayers for those employees working on the frontline- the medical team, police force, the volunteers etc-those involved in providing various essential services, the  various NGOs, local communities, social and religious organizations who have been extending a helping hand to the poorer sections of the society.

The MSGEF calls upon the support and cooperation of all the state government employees to help the government in its effort to deal with the prevailing situation.
