SHILLONG, JAN 23: The United Democratic Party (UDP) is proposing to field sitting legislator of Ranikor Pius Marwein for the bye-election to the Langrin seat of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) slated to be held on February 28.
After the central executive committee (CEC) meeting held on Thursday, UDP general secretary Jemino Mawthoh told reporters that party has recommended the name of the sitting MLA for the by poll.
“We will finalise our decision in a day or two after we sit as a Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA) where we have the Hill State People Democratic Party (HSPDP) is a partner,” Mawthoh said.
The bye-election is necessitated following the death of United Democratic Party (UDP) MDC, Nasar Marwein on October 28 last year.
