Shillong, Dec 8: Meghalaya unit of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) said that it is confident of winning 25 seats from 30 constituencies in the upcoming state assembly elections slated on February 2013 even as it announced the names of seven candidates of the party.
“We are confident that the party will win 25 seats out of the 30 constituencies in this coming elections with the efforts put up by the party workers and supporters,” NCP Meghalaya president Sanbor Shullai told reporters Saturday.
Announcing the first lists of candidates, Shullai said, “We have released the names of 7 candidates as of now.”
The seven includes Laban sitting MLA Sanbor Shullai, Bluebell R Sangma who is the wife of former MLA Chokpot (L) Masongsing M Sangma, Donbor Marwein from Mawkyrwat, Marthon J Sangma from Mendipathar, Andreas T Sangma from North Tura, Janathan Rabha from Raksamgre and Rohidas Marak from Dadenggre.
The NCP also elected office bearers for the state party unit. The second list will be release soon, Shullai informed. –By Our Reporter
