SHILLONG, JULY 18: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today held a meeting with Officials of various government departments, financial institutions, educational institutions, entrepreneurs and event organisers to chalk out plans to host the SIAL 2019 in Shillong.
The Salon International de l’alimentation is a trade fair held every two years, which specialises in the food processing industry. The event conceptualised in 1964 in France is also held in various member countries which are part of the SIAL Group Network.
Delivering his opening remarks the Chief Minister said that the event will give the much needed thrust to promote food processing in the State and the region. Underling the significance of the upcoming event to farmers and entrepreneurs in gaining access to market linkages and value addition to products the Chief Minister said that the event will be a catalyst for Meghalaya to emerge as a major food innovation hub in the North-East and the country.
The event termed the ‘North East Food Show by Meghalaya and Sial’ and supported by SIAL India and SIAL International is slated to be organised in the month of December this year in Shillong.
